And it keeps getting shorter

We started this paper chain before the first of the year to count down the days until Daddy comes home. We have watched it loopty-loop from the window to the door and now to just one single loop. Sometimes LMA wants to wait 4 rings to take any off. Others he takes them off one at a time. With only 17 days left until he sees Daddy, we ALL get excited when one more ring comes off the chain! Guess I'll be making another one of these for the last leg of Daddy's tour. Thankfully, this next one won't be as long!

Silly glasses

We have a drawer in our house in the living room that holds our sunglasses. Somehow, these "glasses" LMA got from a birthday party made it into the drawer. At first when BBZ would put on a pair of sunglasses he would put them around his neck and call it a day. Now when he gets out glasses and approaches you, he lets you put them on, he walks around for a minute so you can admire him and his coolness, and then takes them off. In these? He just looks silly.

A day out with Mom

Ok, so it wasn't our first outing but it was BBZ's first time to Chuck E Cheeses. At first BBZ was a little overwhelmed, I mean who wouldn't be with an 8 foot mouse walking around with lights flashing from hundreds of videos game? Soon they both figured out what their favorites were and it turned out to be a good morning with my boys. I"m sure we'll be doing it again soon.

Curly-Q

I just had to take this.. more to document how curly BBZ's hair is, but also because this time next month it will be gone. He will be getting his first haircut when Daddy gets home. Part of me doesn't want to touch it because it is super cute, but it's really getting too long. Maybe after it's cut it will still be a little curly.

More than words could say

I mean, seriously? Do I really need to say anything? This kid is just too cute for words. There are days, like yesterday, where I wanted nothing more than to just walk out of the house while he screamed, fussed, and was downright miserable for whatever reason. But then, like today, where he was playing peek-a-boo under the kitchen table. He just melts my heart sometimes.

Enjoying time together

The boys have been coming down with something lately. I had to start remembering what I did with LMA when I was stuck at home ALL DAY LONG, mainly because we couldn't go anywhere since we didn't have transportation. Play-doh and painting were an almost every day occasion back then. So when I finally introduced it to BBZ, he LOVED it! Now whenever I need a moment to step back, with no fighting in the background for at least 10 minutes, I grab the play-doh and let them go at it together.

A butterfly in disguise

I LOVE the school that LMA goes to. It's actually a fitness/aquatic center but the teacher there, in my opinion, is priceless. She was LMA's teacher last year when Daddy was away for school, so going into this year she knew all about what was going on with Daddy going to Cuba. On this day, they are talking about caterpillars and how they form a cocoon so they can change into a butterfly. That's exactly what LMA is sometimes to me... a butterfly in disguise.

A quick moment

Caught this shot through the windows while I was getting ready for dinner. BBZ kept rearranging himself before he finally settled down. Shortly afterwards, LMA came to join but BBZ quickly stood up making me miss the opportunity.

Picture of the Day

I think one of the main reasons why I haven't been posting all that much is I feel as though I need to include this big long elaborate entry. Well, I definitely don't have time for that. So what I have decided to do instead was something a friend of mine has been doing for awhile. A Picture of the Day. Here's the first one:

Warm weather lately has been getting us outside. Both boys have been thoroughly enjoying! This day, LMA wanted to play hide-n-seek. He chose to hide behind the bushes.... in the mud.

Just do it already

So I finally did it. I signed up for my first 5K. I still can't believe I'm turning into a runner. Although I have no desire to be an avid runner, it seems as though its happening whether I like it or not. Because I've actually signed up for two 5K's, both in May.

When I first started my new diet/exercise regime after the first of the year, a dear friend of mine suggested I sign up and run a 5K. Thinking what the hell, I never thought I would actually follow through with it. I mean, I had full intention of doing that, but sometimes it just doesn't happen for one reason or another.

Well, to my surprise I've kept up with the exercise. Along the way, I turned to another friend for running advice. She was able to give me a great 5K plan that gave me day to day instructions on how to go from couch potato to 5K runner in 8 weeks. Not only have I been able to complete a 5K run without stopping in 37 minutes, along the way I've lost 7 pounds (a safe amount over the course of 8 weeks, but I would have liked more) and 2 inches total. All within 8 weeks.

Sometimes when I think about it, this totally baffles my mind. I mean, I'm running 3.18 miles without stopping and I want to go faster and longer. My ultimate goal: To run the 5 K in 30 minutes or less.

And I'm going to do it.

Signing up for the 5K was by far the BEST advice my friend has ever given me. Not only because I just feel good to just run sometimes, I've had something else to focus on rather than just the weight loss. I know I am gaining muscle and losing fat which is why the scale is not as low I wish it would be, but I also know it will get there. Also, I feel as though I am setting a good example for my children. That your health, both physical and mental, is extremely important. You can't take care of others if you don't take care of yourself first.

So stay tuned. March should be fun with interval training so I can reach my goal. Who knows? Maybe before the end of the year, I'll be running a 10K. Maybe.
